HOT GIST! UNILAG Student Reports Lecturer for Alleged Assault in His Office

A lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Samuel Ojogbo, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female student.

According to reports, the 300-level student (name withheld) went to the police on August 28, 2025, claiming that on August 22, around 12 p.m., the lecturer invited her into his office and allegedly forced himself on her. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The school management confirmed that it was aware of the case and had already reported the matter to the police. UNILAG’s Safeguarding Centre is also said to be giving the student support.

The Head of UNILAG’s Communication Unit, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, explained that the school has set up a panel to look into the allegation. She promised that the outcome of the investigation would be made public once it is concluded.

She also stressed that the university is committed to carrying out a fair investigation and ensuring justice. In addition, she encouraged students and staff to always report any form of harassment or misconduct through the proper offices.
